this is my presentations for Midsummer night's dream during my senior year where I was costume designer.
this a photo from a production of Buddy: the buddy holly story at Tuacahn Amphitheatre in Ivins Utah where I worked as a wardrobe runner. I assisted in quick changes and maintenance of costumes during the two month run.
For my production of Midsummer, Titania's looks were inspired by Cher's Vegas looks and during the show we gave here a dance number and I wanted her to have a Feathered costume piece. I took a armored harness as the base and then attached two large feather fans to create the shape. I completed it with paint and added other colored feathers.
During my senior year I was costume designer for our shadow cast production of Rocky Horror. We had originally planned on buying one but weren't sure if it would arrive in time so I made a backup just in case. I had a jacket pattern from a personal project and used that at the base for the jacket. I spent a whole day building it and added details.
During the lockdown in summer of 2020 I wanted a personal project. I was inspired by David Bowie's music video ashes to ashes and created a gender bent version of the costume he wore in the video. I took a dress from my closet and altered to a design I created.
During the process of Midsummer I was tasked with created Bottom's donkey head. I took an old horse headpiece from stock and modified it to look more like a donkey. Once I had the shape together I just added black fabric, pearls and other accessories to give it that Las Vegas look.
This is a photo taken of a production of Puffs in which was the first show I was costume design. Since the Harry Potter series was based in the 90's I based the costume design off that as well. In the first act I have the characters in a similar uniform and then in act 2 I give them more 1990's clothing.
For our production of Addams Family, I designed the costume for the moon. we wanted here to be a humanized version of the moon. I built a small moon headdress and pulled items from stock to construct the complete look.
Originally for our 2020-2021 season we wanted to do a rep series which included Peter and the Starcatchers but we ended up switching it out due to streaming rights. But I was going to be costume designer for it so I made a up a few sketches of the characters to give myself and the production team a sense of where I was going. This sketch is one of the main leads Molly Aster. I had her in three different looks. The first look is at the start of the show when she boards the ship. The second is her under clothes when she meets the boys. And the final look is when she washes up on the island in the second act.
This is a photo of a production of Chicago that I recently was involved in. I had come on originally to be assistant costume designer but then in the last week before tech things changed and I was fully responsible for costumes. The costumes were very minimal with men in lace shirts and dance pants while women were in leotards and shorts.
